Rick Torken Appointed as Country Executive UK

ABN AMRO is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Torken as Country Executive for ABN AMRO in the United Kingdom (UK). In his previous role, Rick was responsible for ABN AMRO’s operations in Latin America as CEO of Banco ABN AMRO S.A. As per 1 July, he started his new role.

Rutger van Nouhuijs, CEO Corporate & Institutional Banking said: "Rick has been very successful in rebuilding our operations in Brazil. I am confident that with his experience and energy he will be equally as successful in leading our UK operations". Hugo Peek, CEO EMEA added: "The UK and the Netherlands are critical trade partners of each other. On top of that and despite Brexit, we believe in the attractiveness of the UK corporate market. We are happy to have Rick Torken come on board for the UK to help realise our growth plans for the country". 

About Rick

Rick, a Dutch native, started his career with ABN AMRO in 2008 and has held senior international management positions since. He knows the UK market well having lived and worked in London from 1999 to 2001.


Rick succeeds Robbert Booij, who has taken on the position of CEO Europe at ABN AMRO Clearing. The process to find a suitable successor in Brazil has already started. ABN AMRO’s presence in the UK consists of specialised Corporate and Commercial banking business lines which include Clearing, Asset Based Finance and other Corporate & Institutional Banking activities. Today, ABN AMRO in the UK employs approximately 370 staff and has its Head Office in London. In 2016, ABN AMRO announced the ambition to grow its international business. This includes the growth of corporate banking activities in the UK within the bank’s areas of expertise.
